Lovable guide

How to publish a Lovable marketplace app to the App Store and Google Play

Yes, as a native app. Physical goods and real-world services keep your own checkout, while digital extras like paid boosts use in-app purchase. Listings and messages are user content, so both stores require reporting, blocking and moderation before they approve a marketplace.

Facts checked against Apple's, Google's and Lovable's own documentation.

Buyers and sellers, both on their phones

Buyers want to browse and pay in a couple of taps; sellers want a notification the moment something sells. One app with both roles, as your Lovable marketplace has today, is the norm and passes review.

Buyers browse, sellers get the sale: one app with both roles.
  • Buyers: search near them, saved searches with alerts, order updates as notifications.
  • Sellers: list an item from the camera roll, sale and message notifications, orders in one place.

Which marketplace payments can stay on Stripe?

Anything bought for use in the real world: physical items and services. Both stores require your own checkout for those.

“If your app enables people to purchase physical goods or services that will be consumed outside of the app, you must use purchase methods other than in-app purchase to collect those payments, such as Apple Pay or traditional credit card entry.”
Apple App Review Guideline 3.1.3(e)

Google Play's payments policy also keeps physical goods off its billing, and exempts peer-to-peer payments and online auctions. Digital extras sold inside the app are different: paid boosts, featured listings and premium seller plans unlock something in the app, so they use in-app purchase (Guideline 3.1.1).

Items and services keep your checkout; boosts and upgrades use in-app purchase.

The moderation stores require for listings and messages

When users post listings, photos and messages, the app hosts user-generated content. Apple's Guideline 1.2 requires:

  • A method for filtering objectionable material from being posted.
  • A way to report offensive content, and timely responses to reports.
  • The ability to block abusive users.
  • Published contact information so users can reach you.

Google Play's user-generated content policy adds that people accept your terms before they post, that the terms define what's not allowed, and that apps with direct messaging let people block other users.
